This quality improvement project utilized a 24-question survey to identify barriers to advance care planning (ACP) in inpatient cancer care at a large metropolitan academic hospital. Results indicated that practices related to ACP are impeded by role confusion, discordant perspectives among multidisciplinary team members, and numerous ACP misconceptions that continue to perpetuate a lack of engagement in ACP in inpatient cancer care. Results will be used to enable future projects to target the barriers identified in successfully improving ACP perceptions and practices among the multidisciplinary team in inpatient cancer care.
