At an adult primary care clinic in Oregon that specializes in gerontological care, staff had not received recent education on the recommendations for the STEADI (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths and Injuries) guidelines in fall prevention. This project sought to enhance staff members’ knowledge of and confidence in fall risk screening and assessment and to increase the number of older adults that are screened and assessed for fall risk through an educational intervention. This project found that an educational intervention is an effective strategy to improve knowledge and confidence related to fall risk screening and assessments.
