This capstone project evaluated caregiver food access experiences during pediatric hospitalization at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and identified opportunities to improve the Nourish Program’s food resources. Survey findings highlighted that while caregivers valued programs such as the Dolly Trolley and Family Lounge for convenience, bedside access, and emotional support, barriers related to stress, cost, awareness, and dietary-specific needs still affected food access. In response, the project developed updated Groceries To Go bag recommendations and a caregiver survey analysis report to support future program planning, improve nutritional quality and cultural inclusivity, and strengthen caregiver-centered food assistance.
