Falls are a leading cause of injury and death among older adults, with more than one in four older Americans reporting a fall and over 41,000 fall-related deaths in 2023. This project proposes training rural first responders to use the CDC's STEADI fall prevention framework to screen for risk, assess modifiable factors, provide education, and refer patients to community resources. Research shows these interventions can reduce future 911 calls, increase participation in fall prevention programs, and improve quality of life by nearly 30%. The program aims to expand fall prevention efforts in underserved communities with limited access to healthcare.
