Bibliometric analyses examining scholarly works cited by patents provide a unique method for identifying studies that have influenced technological development. A bibliometric analysis was performed using the Lens database, which links global patent records with scholarly literature. Earlier influential studies focused on foundational technologies for image-guided surgery and augmented reality–based visualization. The 50 most patent-cited publications were published between 1994 and 2020. These findings provide insight into the academic research most closely associated with technological innovation in neurosurgery.
