Voltage gated calcium channels (VGCCs) allow for depolarization-induced calcium entry into neurons and are crucial regulators of neuronal signal transduction. Ongoing work utilizes a single-cell α2δ--2 deletion approach to determine whether phenotypes observed in global KO mice are recapitulated in a cell autonomous manner. With these data, we hope to determine the etiology of lobe-specific changes in cerebellar function with the intent of better understanding the roles of α2δ--2 in Purkinje cells as well other α2δ isoforms throughout the brain.
