Gastroparesis (GP) is characterized by delayed gastric emptying, with a prevalence rate in the general population ranging from 13.8-267.7 per 100,000 adults. The comorbid rates of GP, EDS and POTS are not well understood, but rates of individuals presenting with all three diagnoses at the OHSU Digestive Health Center appear relatively high. Patient tried multiple therapies for POTS and gastroparesis which she either did not tolerate, or they did not provide symptomatic relief. This information will support more individualized care and help inform best practices for management going forward.
