Firearm injury is an epidemic in the US, and upstream interventions are needed to address it. When surveyed after the 2025 Clinical Skills Lab session (n=137), most students indicated increased confidence in their knowledge and abilities around discussing firearm injury prevention with patients. For the 2025 Veteran-specific pilot project, participants (n=9) reported improvements in confidence and understanding and identified aspects of the VitalTalk method as the most helpful for skill development. In the future, the GVPRC will continue to expand its educational efforts for medical students to develop skills related to firearm injury prevention.
