Previous research assessing barriers to implementing screening has focused on individual or inter-personal factors, not structural or contextual barriers and facilitators. Intimate partner violence (IPV) is associated with multiple adverse physical and mental health conditions. Factors to increase utilization of screening included leveraging existing screening practices to tailor workflows, using incentive metrics, providing clinic staff with specialized training for best practices, using brief adaptable screening tools, strengthening documentation systems, and tailoring planning for positive screening follow-up to clinic context.
