The PEER-CM (Peers Expanding Engagement in Stimulant Overdose Reduction with Contingency Management) study tests the impact of peer-delivered CM for achieving self-identified goals on the likelihood of overdose and engagement in treatment services among people using stimulants. Four themes emerged. (1) Peers facilitated access to healthcare, and follow-through with health-related goals. (2) Peers maintained client relationships despite client instability. (3) Peers helped connect clients to recovery meetings and obtain necessities. (4) Peers connected clients to culturally specific events. Understanding how peer-client relationships influence access to services is an important aspect of evaluating the effectiveness of peer-delivered CM.
