The Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score is an evidence-based tool used to assess illness severity in critically ill patients with sepsis, 1 and remains a leading cause of death. A SOFA score ≥ 14 at 72 hours was associated with 100% mortality in this cohort. Logistic regression analysis identified age, 72-hour SOFA score, and oncological comorbidities as statistically significant predictors of mortality. Further research is needed to include larger patient populations and to validate utility of these findings in clinical settings.
