Meckel’s diverticulum is the most common congenital anomaly of the developing small bowel. He subsequently had two episodes of frank hematochezia and hemoglobin decreased to 5.8 g/dL, and he required 4 units of pRBCs. Gastroenterology was consulted and recommended a Meckel’s scan, which demonstrated uptake in the left lower quadrant. This case highlights the importance of including Meckel’s diverticulum in the differential, recognizing that previous negative evaluation does not preclude development of a clinically significant Meckel’s diverticulum.
