Marijuana legalization across the United States has led to an increase in medical and recreational use in adults. Furthermore, the prevalence of marijuana use in pregnant individuals has more than doubled in the last two decades. Clinical studies have predominately focused on behavioral neurodevelopmental effects of prenatal cannabis exposure, however, there is evidence of prenatal cannabis exposure affecting white matter myelin pathways. This work shows a novel way in how the ECS alters OL development and myelination and provides a foundation for future studies to further examine ECS signaling in vivo.
