Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) may be at heightened risk due to added household financial burdens. This study assessed: (1) whether a single item from the USDA 6‑Item Short Form can effectively screen for FI, and (2) which household and family characteristics predict FI. Parents of preschoolers attending a community health screening in Tillamook, Oregon completed surveys on food security, CSHCN status, and household factors. Analyses included ROC curves, chi‑square tests, and multivariate logistic regression (SPSS 15.0). Findings aim to inform practical FI screening in primary care and identify high‑risk families for targeted support. 000000576 540__ $$fCC BY 000000576 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000576 650__ $$aChild, Preschool$$016489 000000576 650__ $$aPoverty$$024482 000000576 650__ $$aFood Insecurity$$013447 000000576 650__ $$aPrimary Health Care$$024590 000000576 650__ $$aFamily Characteristics$$018878 000000576 650__ $$aFinancial Stress$$013521 000000576 651__ $$aOregon--Tillamook$$044823 000000576 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000576 692__ $$aDepartment of Dietetics and Nutrition$$041408 000000576 7001_ $$aTravis, Mary$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000576 7201_ $$aAdams, Elizabeth$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000000576 8564_ $$9d79eada1-9619-4e6c-bce6-e4d849cecdbb$$s260851$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/576/files/577_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$258ea34a9191adb682d9604381b955d67$$31 000000576 905__ $$a/rest/prod/mw/22/v5/47/mw22v5474 000000576 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:576$$pstudent-work 000000576 956__ $$aGet Accessible Copy$$uhttps://ohsu.libwizard.com/f/requestaccessibledocument 000000576 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
