This work investigates the role of extracellular matrix (ECM) in vascular function and develops novel biomaterials, including electrospun human recombinant tropoelastin grafts and ECM-modified ePTFE grafts. These materials demonstrated favorable mechanical properties and vascular cell compatibility. A biaxial constitutive model was introduced for standardized evaluation of graft mechanics. Endothelial outgrowth cell responses to ECM proteins were assessed for thrombogenic and inflammatory potential. Findings provide new insights into ECM–cell interactions and advance strategies for clinically viable small-diameter vascular grafts. 000000625 540__ $$fCC BY 000000625 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000625 650__ $$aThrombosis$$027034 000000625 650__ $$aBlood Vessel Prosthesis$$015682 000000625 650__ $$aTissue Engineering$$033051 000000625 650__ $$aTropoelastin$$027428 000000625 650__ $$aExtracellular Matrix$$018796 000000625 650__ $$aVascular Grafting$$039073 000000625 6531_ $$aelectrospinning 000000625 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000625 692__ $$aDepartment of Biomedical Engineering$$041397 000000625 7001_ $$aMcKenna, Kathryn$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000625 7201_ $$aHinds, Monica$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000000625 8564_ $$9868a92be-8a81-4b01-8371-5cb06769c8b4$$s8859194$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/625/files/626_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2dd93e95e659c482b9665ce415bba9cc6$$31 000000625 905__ $$a/rest/prod/ww/72/bb/53/ww72bb53h 000000625 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:625$$pstudent-work 000000625 956__ $$aGet Accessible Copy$$uhttps://ohsu.libwizard.com/f/requestaccessibledocument 000000625 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
