This study analyzed data from 872 Oregon adolescents (2008–2010) to compare characteristics of those who attempted suicide versus those engaging in NSSI. Multivariate analysis revealed significant differences in race/ethnicity, mood disorders, school-related stressors, and prior suicide attempts. Findings underscore the need for targeted interventions in schools and equal clinical attention for NSSI, as similarities between groups suggest potential progression to suicide attempts. Educating clinicians and school communities is critical for prevention. 000000638 540__ $$fCC BY 000000638 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000638 650__ $$aAdolescent$$014285 000000638 650__ $$aRisk Factors$$025522 000000638 650__ $$aSuicide$$026555 000000638 650__ $$aSelf-Injurious Behavior$$029356 000000638 650__ $$aMultivariate Analysis$$028808 000000638 650__ $$aAdolescent Health$$011180 000000638 650__ $$aSuicide, Attempted$$026556 000000638 651__ $$aOregon$$041094 000000638 6531_ $$aadolescence 000000638 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000638 692__ $$aDepartment of Public Health and Preventive Medicine$$041444 000000638 7001_ $$aFiala, Steven$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000638 8564_ $$9ad36c7ec-9cba-4d71-aaca-bb201abb58e1$$s475717$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/638/files/639_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$288bb0f7bdb6a08396e7f2348767302fc$$31 000000638 905__ $$a/rest/prod/4t/64/gn/18/4t64gn18r 000000638 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:638$$pstudent-work 000000638 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
