TY - THES AB - This study evaluated survival and success of dental implants placed by periodontal residents at Oregon Health & Science University (2002–2009) and assessed residual bone height radiographically. A retrospective review included 79 patients with 167 implants and a mean follow-up of 5.1 years. Dental implant radiographic residual bone height (DIRRBH) averaged 90.7%, with cumulative crestal bone loss of 1.03 mm. Survival rate was 96.8%, unaffected by gender, smoking, or diabetes. Patient satisfaction was high. Findings confirm excellent long-term outcomes for implants placed in a residency setting and introduce DIRRBH as a novel metric for implant success.
