This study analyzed data from the 2006–2008 National Survey of Family Growth to assess whether formal sex education on contraception, STDs, and HIV prevention is associated with condom use at first intercourse and partner hormonal method use among males aged 15–19. Using logistic regression, we found that exposure to comprehensive sex education, compared to abstinence-only messages, was significantly associated with safer contraceptive behaviors at sexual debut. 000000734 540__ $$fCC BY 000000734 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000734 650__ $$aSex Education$$025926 000000734 650__ $$aAdolescent$$014285 000000734 650__ $$aContraception$$017054 000000734 650__ $$aCoitus$$016872 000000734 6531_ $$ateenage boys 000000734 6531_ $$asex instruction 000000734 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000734 692__ $$aDepartment of Public Health and Preventive Medicine$$041444 000000734 7001_ $$aMacke Gordon, Leah$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000734 8564_ $$9f4a1c8bd-928e-49ad-9e4a-a587fce80e44$$s982996$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/734/files/737_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2571fc1f692dfa6638b52ec21443c77a4$$31 000000734 905__ $$a/rest/prod/90/19/s2/50/9019s2507 000000734 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:734$$pstudent-work 000000734 956__ $$aGet Accessible Copy$$uhttps://ohsu.libwizard.com/f/requestaccessibledocument 000000734 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
