Using data from the 2007 National Survey of Children’s Health, analyses showed these children had lower odds of breastfeeding initiation and higher odds of stopping before six months. Socioeconomic, maternal, and household factors also influenced breastfeeding. Findings highlight that families of children with greater health needs face additional barriers, underscoring the importance of targeted breastfeeding support to ensure vulnerable infants can benefit from breast milk’s protective health effects.
