This resulted in a wide range of conflicting models of fundamental physiological processes, such as the production and reabsorption of cerebrospinal fluid in the cranium. Major advances were recently made in the study of solute trafficking between the brain and cerebrospinal fluid, and the reabsorption of cerebrospinal fluid and solutes therein. These findings challenge the previous assumptions about where cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulates through the cranium and how it is reabsorbed. The work described in this dissertation aims to address knowledge gaps using a combination of light microscopy, transgenic animal models, and experimental manipulation of physiological parameters that act on this biological system. 000007496 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000007496 650__ $$aNervous System$$022807 000007496 650__ $$aDementia$$017461 000007496 650__ $$aMeninges$$022022 000007496 650__ $$aLymphatic System$$021683 000007496 650__ $$aNeurophysiology$$022866 000007496 650__ $$aCerebrospinal Fluid$$016377 000007496 650__ $$aAlzheimer Disease$$014513 000007496 6531_ $$aalzheimer type 000007496 6531_ $$adegenerative diseases 000007496 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000007496 692__ $$aDepartment of Physiology and Pharmacology$$041442 000007496 7001_ $$aGoodman, James R. 000007496 8564_ $$9145cc60d-1760-407a-a57a-c6d7939bc48d$$s4558667$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/7496/files/goodman.james.2019.pdf 000007496 905__ $$a/rest/prod/qn/59/q4/58/qn59q458n 000007496 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:7496$$pstudent-work 000007496 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
