Those that speak another language "less than very well" can have Limited English Proficiency (LEP). The Health Services and Resource Administration (2018) defined LEP as "individuals who do not speak English as their primary language and who have a limited ability to read, speak, write, or understand English" (n.p.). There are challenges associated with providing care for those with LEP. Those with LEP face greater health disparities are at increased risk for having poorer health outcomes and dissatisfaction towards care. It is important to identify those with LEP and interpreter services should be offered. This was a multi-focus project aimed to improve access to healthcare for those with limited English proficiency by providing interpreter services and improving its practice. 000007511 542__ $$fIn copyright - joint owners 000007511 650__ $$aCommunication Barriers$$016937 000007511 650__ $$aLanguage$$021309 000007511 650__ $$aTranslating$$027273 000007511 6531_ $$alanguage barrier 000007511 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000007511 7001_ $$aPham, Rosa K.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000007511 7001_ $$aMcKimmy, Mandy$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000007511 8564_ $$97f208d9d-f6b5-4754-8f88-e98d09ff7d62$$s459916$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/7511/files/pham.rosa.2019.pdf 000007511 905__ $$a/rest/prod/z3/16/q2/22/z316q2225 000007511 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:7511$$pstudent-work 000007511 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
