Scoliosis is the condition where a spine exhibits lateral curvatures deviating from the midsagittal plane. The vast majority of scoliosis cases have unknown etiology with typical treatment methods involving monitoring of the patient's condition for any exacerbating effects. Monitoring of the patient's condition is done using radiographic images. Commonly used imaging methods equipped with automatic exposure control are not available to this patient population owing to the large field of anatomy required for imaging. This project standardizes technique methods for the technologist to ensure consistent noise content in images. Exposure Index (EI) values serve as a guiding metric for both techniques and image quality as EI is linearly proportional to the incident detector air kerma and is proportional to the square of the signal to noise ratio. 000007554 650__ $$aScoliosis$$025798 000007554 650__ $$aRadiography$$025097 000007554 6531_ $$astandards 000007554 6531_ $$aexposure index 000007554 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000007554 7001_ $$aBelobrajdich, Joseph V. 000007554 8564_ $$9f978419d-a510-46ee-a736-15a16358f47a$$s1089685$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/7554/files/belobrajdich.joseph.2019.pdf 000007554 905__ $$a/rest/prod/00/00/00/50/000000506 000007554 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:7554$$pstudent-work 000007554 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
