In 2011, dentists prescribed 12% of the total prescriptions written in the United States for immediate release opioids, particularly hydrocodone and oxycodone. In October 2014, a federal mandate reclassified hydrocodone combination products as Schedule II drugs requiring a written prescription. Reclassification assumed a subsequent change in provider prescribing habits. The aim of this study was to evaluate the opioid prescribing practices and the impact of the federal mandate on prescribing at the Graduate Endodontic Clinic, Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) School of Dentistry. 000007564 650__ $$aPrescriptions$$038416 000007564 650__ $$aEndodontics$$018420 000007564 650__ $$aMethods$$022159 000007564 650__ $$aControlled Substances$$039987 000007564 650__ $$aClassification$$016768 000007564 6531_ $$alegislation & jurisprudence 000007564 6531_ $$aadministration and dosage 000007564 6531_ $$aopioids 000007564 6531_ $$asupply and distribution 000007564 691__ $$aSchool of Dentistry$$041368 000007564 7001_ $$aBroadsword, Andrew M. 000007564 8564_ $$96f9f8dd1-1b3f-4ef6-b28b-c6957f3fb30b$$s1112320$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/7564/files/broadsword.andrew.2019.pdf 000007564 905__ $$a/rest/prod/4q/77/fr/97/4q77fr975 000007564 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:7564$$pstudent-work 000007564 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
