The high prevalence of malnutrition among recently admitted hospitalized pediatric and adult patients determined in this study reinforces the need for a tool to identify risk of malnutrition among pediatric and adult patients admitted to Lao hospitals. Our results also indicate that implementing a nutrition risk screening tool in the national hospitals in Vientiane, Lao PDR is feasible. Nutrition screening and efforts to address hospital-based malnutrition may be more important in certain wards with high rates of malnutrition such as the diabetes, pulmonary, internal medicine, and infectious disease wards. Timely identification of malnutrition among newly admitted hospitalized patients will help minimize adverse patient health outcomes and reduce the economic burden of healthcare in Lao, PDR. 000007584 650__ $$aSensitivity and Specificity$$025871 000007584 650__ $$aNutritional Status$$023105 000007584 650__ $$aROC Curve$$025585 000007584 650__ $$aPrevalence$$028804 000007584 650__ $$aProtein-Energy Malnutrition$$024759 000007584 651__ $$aLaos$$041017 000007584 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000007584 7001_ $$aWilson, Hannah C. 000007584 8564_ $$926578783-fad6-44e0-9c46-0452cd62c150$$s3818674$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/7584/files/wilson.hannah.2019.pdf 000007584 905__ $$a/rest/prod/m0/39/k5/51/m039k551m 000007584 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:7584$$pstudent-work 000007584 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
