Barriers to physician quality improvement efforts include a culture that does not value measurement time constraints and little training in quality improvement efforts. Electronic health records EHRs have been shown to improve care in patients with diverse medical problems including asthma diabetes congestive heart failure chronic kidney disease depression children with ADHD childhood obesity in preventive care screening for breast cancer and colorectal cancer EHRs have also been shown to reduce medication errors and infection rates. Meaningful use MU requirements are an attempt to incent physicians to use EHRs to improve quality by linking financial payments to quality reporting. This project examined whether physicians would report on clinical quality measures mandated by an outside agency and whether they would be willing to develop clinical quality metrics they felt exemplified quality in their specialty. 000000762 540__ $$fCC BY 000000762 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000762 650__ $$aElectronic Health Records$$038928 000000762 650__ $$aQuality Improvement$$039456 000000762 650__ $$aMedical Records$$021947 000000762 650__ $$aElectronic Data Processing$$015239 000000762 650__ $$aEconomics, Medical$$018193 000000762 650__ $$aManagement Quality Circles$$021794 000000762 650__ $$aReimbursement, Incentive$$025286 000000762 650__ $$aElectronic Health Records$$038928 000000762 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000762 692__ $$aDepartment of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology$$041422 000000762 7001_ $$aLaudenbach, Charles$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000762 7201_ $$aMohan, Vishnu$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000000762 8564_ $$9341017eb-73b7-43bb-96a6-60daab6e13d5$$s764636$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/762/files/765_etd.pdf 000000762 905__ $$a/rest/prod/0r/96/73/79/0r9673798 000000762 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:762$$pstudent-work 000000762 980__ $$aBiomedical Informatics
