In 1999, the Institute of Medicine published a landmark report titled, “To Err is Human” which claims that between 44,000 and 98,000 people die and more than a million are injured annually from preventable medical errors. One of the many recommendations from the report is to implement healthcare information systems (HIS) to ensure safety. This project consists of a literature review on safety and errors in healthcare information systems. 000000768 540__ $$fCC BY 000000768 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000768 650__ $$aMedication Errors$$021956 000000768 650__ $$aMedical Errors$$031516 000000768 650__ $$aSafety Management$$030216 000000768 650__ $$aHospitals$$020336 000000768 650__ $$aHospital Information Systems$$020326 000000768 650__ $$aInformation Storage and Retrieval$$028998 000000768 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000768 692__ $$aDepartment of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology$$041422 000000768 7001_ $$aWeatherby, Julia$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000768 8564_ $$96b886da3-7ebe-4f09-8d10-5b4a1feed371$$s216212$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/768/files/771_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2e285d5b08a1a5345ad4c25402258dc82$$31 000000768 905__ $$a/rest/prod/1g/05/fb/68/1g05fb68n 000000768 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:768$$pstudent-work 000000768 980__ $$aBiomedical Informatics
