Most of these infections are caused by viruses and are not treatable with antibiotics. Their overuse can result in adverse patient health effects and increase community antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic over-prescribing was suggested by a preliminary study of three Portland Veteran Administration Medical Center (PVAMC) community based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). This retrospective study of the same time period (July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009), augments that study with the addition of patients who presented with acute (RTIs) at the remaining four PVAMC CBOCs. 000000774 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000774 650__ $$aDrug Resistance, Microbial$$018080 000000774 650__ $$aDrug-Related Side Effects and Adverse Reactions$$040408 000000774 650__ $$aAmbulatory Care Facilities$$014523 000000774 650__ $$aPractice Patterns, Physicians'$$024114 000000774 650__ $$aPrimary Health Care$$024590 000000774 650__ $$aRetrospective Studies$$025415 000000774 650__ $$aVeterans Health Services$$013256 000000774 650__ $$aRespiratory Tract Infections$$025370 000000774 650__ $$aAnti-Bacterial Agents$$014846 000000774 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000774 692__ $$aDepartment of Public Health and Preventive Medicine$$041444 000000774 7001_ $$aGleitsmann, Ken$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000774 8564_ $$9fc6bdd63-5744-4e1a-9ba8-36b87c7a1203$$s1216917$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/774/files/777_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2052f6a05c813ab010afa0eef90e15ea2$$31 000000774 905__ $$a/rest/prod/h1/28/nd/75/h128nd75q 000000774 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:774$$pstudent-work 000000774 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
