The fundamental cause of obesity and many metabolic disorders is an energy imbalance between caloric input and energy output. Here we present our discoveries that reveal two key molecular mechanisms for how the expression of the orexigenic neuropeptides, AgRP and NPY, are controlled, and also identify a critical transcription factor (Isl1) that regulates embryonic development of various arcuate neuronal cell types. 000007841 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000007841 650__ $$aHypothalamus$$020595 000007841 650__ $$aTranscription Factors$$027255 000007841 650__ $$aReceptors, Glucocorticoid$$025200 000007841 650__ $$aArcuate Nucleus of Hypothalamus$$015041 000007841 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000007841 692__ $$aDepartment of Cell, Developmental and Cancer Biology$$041399 000007841 7001_ $$aLee, Bora$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000007841 7201_ $$aLee, Jae$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor 000007841 8564_ $$9f79f23ff-86d4-449d-ab84-8500f0930369$$s4921249$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/7841/files/lee.bora.2016.pdf$$ePublic$$24a6c80b15c18bb6c6e5d7b973fcea978$$31 000007841 905__ $$a/rest/prod/n2/96/wz/75/n296wz75w 000007841 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:7841$$pstudent-work 000007841 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
