Compared to manual chart review, computable phenotypes extract large scale information from the medical record with greater speed and lower overall cost. Public phenotype repositories are being developed to encourage sharing and re-use of definitions. Hundreds of phenotypes definitions have now proliferated, often overlapping and differing in subtle ways. No consumer tools currently exist to help prospective users evaluate and select the most appropriate definition among multiple options.
