AB  - It is unclear if different dietary weight loss strategies affect visceral adipose tissue (VAT)  mass to different extents among individuals who are overweight and obese. We evaluated  whether consuming a high complex-carbohydrate diet (HCCD) or a very low carbohydrate diet  (VLCD) for six weeks under controlled feeding study conditions resulted in similar reductions in  abdominal VAT mass. We also evaluated the relationship between change in fasting serum leptin and plasma hs-CRP concentrations and change in VAT mass during these dietary interventions
