000007910 520__ $$aThe effective move to value-based care delivery in physical therapy necessitates a shift towards a learning healthcare organization, with clinical managers acting as the primary supporters of providers? navigation of this changing healthcare landscape.  This shift also requires efficient, system-wide use of technology.  Harnessing the power of clinical and operational data contained within clinical information systems (CIS) offers companies many benefits.  Unfortunately, CIS implementation projects in physical therapy have historically been expensive and poorly organized.  This hinders organizations from effectively using these systems they spend so much to implement.  Worse, with poor implementation and limited institutional control, these systems can simply contribute to provider burnout without any appreciable improvement in care quality.  This research sought to understand the information needs of and organizational influences on managers as they utilize information systems to oversee the clinical quality efforts of their organizations.
