Importantly, this binge-pattern of drinking carries substantial risks for adverse outcomes, including involvement in motor vehicle accidents, alcohol poisoning, and sexual victimization. Although prior work has examined neural correlates of emergent alcohol use among adolescent populations, the present study takes a novel, data-driven approach by incorporating graph theory metrics of resting-state functional connectivity with predictive modeling via machine learning. To identify risk factors for future binge drinking, a subset of participants were selected from an ongoing prospective longitudinal study (National Consortium on Alcohol and Neurodevelopment in Adolescence). All participants were alcohol-na?ve at baseline (n=150), but 51% (n=77) emerged into binge drinking over the course of four years of follow-up assessments (transitioners), while the rest remained abstinent from alcohol use (controls). 000008240 540__ $$fCC BY 000008240 542__ $$fIn copyright - joint owners 000008240 650__ $$aAdolescent$$014285 000008240 650__ $$aAlcoholism$$014412 000008240 650__ $$aBinge Drinking$$040232 000008240 650__ $$aMagnetic Resonance Imaging$$021747 000008240 6531_ $$aresting-state FMRI 000008240 6531_ $$agraph theory 000008240 6531_ $$aneurodevelopment 000008240 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000008240 692__ $$aDepartment of Behavioral Neuroscience$$041394 000008240 7001_ $$aKliamovich, Dakota$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008240 7001_ $$aMorales, Angelica$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008240 7001_ $$aHarman, Gareth$$uOregon Health & Science University, Swedish Neuroscience Institute$$041353 000008240 7001_ $$aBoyd, Stephen$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008240 711__ $$aResearch Week$$uOregon Health and Science University$$d2020 000008240 8564_ $$9468a34b6-372d-445e-943c-6ef8908bfbab$$s48954$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/8240/files/Dakota-Kliamovich.pdf 000008240 905__ $$a/rest/prod/tm/70/mv/66/tm70mv665 000008240 980__ $$aResearch Week
