In 2018, over half of all Oregon kindergartners were living in poverty and performed below the state average on the Oregon Kindergarten Assessment (OKA). Positive deviance (PD) is an approach that highlights uncommon practices that reduce risk in low-resource communities. We used a PD?approach to analyze data from the 2018-2019 OKA to identify positive deviants, defined as schools serving a large percentage of low-income children who are excelling on the OKA. 000008276 540__ $$fCC BY 000008276 542__ $$fIn copyright - joint owners 000008276 650__ $$aAcademic Success$$012577 000008276 650__ $$aChild$$016462 000008276 650__ $$aPoverty$$024482 000008276 650__ $$aSocial Determinants of Health$$040530 000008276 6531_ $$aschool readiness 000008276 6531_ $$apositive deviance 000008276 6531_ $$akindergarten 000008276 6531_ $$aelementary school 000008276 691__ $$aOHSU-PSU School of Public Health$$041366 000008276 7001_ $$aSeeley, Kylie$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008276 7001_ $$aZuckerman, Katharine$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008276 7001_ $$aPeterson, Jaime$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008276 711__ $$aResearch Week$$uOregon Health and Science University$$d2020 000008276 8564_ $$95cd9195d-b4ca-4cda-9384-36107efc3b0d$$s49778$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/8276/files/Kylie-Seeley.pdf 000008276 905__ $$a/rest/prod/m0/39/k5/60/m039k560k 000008276 980__ $$aResearch Week
