This may be explained by the mismatch in brain maturation between bottom-up reward processing networks (which develop early in adolescence), and top-down regulatory control networks (which develop later). However, there are significant individual differences in adolescent risk taking which could be attributable to a variety of factors, such as differences in temperament. This study investigated the neurobiological underpinnings of risk and reward evaluation as they relate to self-reported pleasure derived from novel or intense experiences on the Early Adolescent Temperament Questionnaire. 000008344 540__ $$fCC BY 000008344 542__ $$fIn copyright - joint owners 000008344 650__ $$aAdolescent$$014285 000008344 650__ $$aDecision Making$$017417 000008344 650__ $$aReward$$025422 000008344 650__ $$aRisk$$025521 000008344 650__ $$aSurveys and Questionnaires$$025037 000008344 650__ $$aAdolescent Behavior$$014286 000008344 6531_ $$ahealth risk behaviors 000008344 6531_ $$aneurodevelopment 000008344 6531_ $$aexploratory behavior 000008344 6531_ $$aearly adolescent temperament questionnaire 000008344 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000008344 692__ $$aDivision of Psychology$$041466 000008344 7001_ $$aDel Giacco, Amanda$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008344 7001_ $$aMorales, Angelica M.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008344 7001_ $$aJones, Scott A.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008344 7001_ $$aKliamovich, Dakota R.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008344 7001_ $$aNagel, Bonnie J.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000008344 711__ $$aResearch Week$$uOregon Health and Science University$$d2020 000008344 8564_ $$90a6a18be-b9e7-4d74-b782-50f116d4667a$$s46677$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/8344/files/ResearchWeek.2020.DelGiacco.Amanda.pdf$$ePublic$$23edc474c10b802fce6a5c07055522435$$31 000008344 905__ $$a/rest/prod/12/57/9s/91/12579s91d 000008344 980__ $$aResearch Week
