MiRNAs are noncoding RNA molecules that regulate gene expression in the post-transcriptional phase. When miRNA count is depleted, gene expression can become dysregulated, consequently leading to progression or drug resistance in cancer. Therefore, many researchers have begun to investigate the role of miRNA as a potential biomarker of cancer, and its role in targeted drug therapy. Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a recent breakthrough to identify cancer types with high accuracy. Even though cancer is a complex and extremely heterogeneous condition, the current practice of treating cancer -- which entails surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy -- is a one-size-fits-all approach that results in the prescription of the same drug for every patient with the same type and stage of cancer. This approach is expensive, time-consuming, causes the patients to suffer, and worse, prescribed cancer drugs are ineffective for 75% of the time. Machine learning can be used to deliver precision cancer therapeutics based on genomic profiles of patient's tumors. 000008359 540__ $$fCC BY 000008359 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000008359 650__ $$aMachine Learning$$011449 000008359 650__ $$aArtificial Intelligence$$015109 000008359 650__ $$aBiomarkers$$028395 000008359 650__ $$aGene Expression$$028717 000008359 650__ $$aMicroRNAs$$034671 000008359 650__ $$aPrecision Medicine$$038927 000008359 6531_ $$acancer 000008359 6531_ $$aneoplasms 000008359 6531_ $$amirna 000008359 7001_ $$aMandera, Darsh$$uJesuit High School$$041346 000008359 711__ $$aResearch Week$$uOregon Health and Science University$$d2020 000008359 8564_ $$9d8ccb562-c297-4adb-afcf-9f4f5b48d91e$$s43658$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/8359/files/ResearchWeek.2020.Mandera.Darsh.pdf 000008359 905__ $$a/rest/prod/xg/94/hq/08/xg94hq08h 000008359 980__ $$aResearch Week
