This study developed and validated a measure of CAM orientation using survey data from 795 allopathic providers. Structural equation modeling identified three sub-constructs: receptive, closed, and active. CAM orientation was higher among female physicians and those spending >15 minutes per patient, while male physicians and those with more years in practice scored lower. The 7-item measure shows promise for evaluating CAM attitudes and informing medical education. Further validation among primary care providers is recommended. 000000889 540__ $$fCC BY 000000889 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000889 650__ $$aCultural Competency$$037892 000000889 650__ $$aComplementary Therapies$$014498 000000889 650__ $$aIntegrative Medicine$$038142 000000889 650__ $$aPhysician-Patient Relations$$024113 000000889 650__ $$aPhysician-Patient Relations$$024113 000000889 6531_ $$aalternative medicine 000000889 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000889 692__ $$aDepartment of Public Health and Preventive Medicine$$041444 000000889 7001_ $$aTippens, Kimberly$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000889 7201_ $$aSaha, Somnath$$uPortland VA Medical Center$$041358$$7Personal$$eMentor 000000889 8564_ $$9c43d9cb2-6edd-47db-ae99-e3fef06775c7$$s567705$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/889/files/892_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2083643edbc2ac5f64876f5c8a4919ecb$$31 000000889 905__ $$a/rest/prod/xk/81/jk/40/xk81jk409 000000889 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:889$$pstudent-work 000000889 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
