School Health Centers (SHCs) have been identified as an equitable, efficacious and adolescent-friendly resource for health care diagnosis, referral, and treatment for many groups, but their specific impact on the health of SGM adolescents has not been well studied. Multnomah County is home to ten of Oregon?s SHCs, all of which serve SGM adolescents. A web-based survey was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitudes and beliefs, behaviors, and insights of 26 Multnomah County SHC employees, as they relate to the care of SGM adolescents. Findings suggest that employees with higher SGM-related knowledge have more SGM-supportive attitudes. Inadequate training was the most frequently perceived barrier to providing SGM-affirming care, and increasing staff training was the most frequent recommendation made. Study results suggest that efforts to increase staff knowledge of SGM topics should be pursued. In addition, existing SGM-affirming practices, such as the collection of sexual orientation and gender identity demographic data from patients, should be sustained. 000009107 650__ $$aSexual and Gender Minorities$$011991 000009107 650__ $$aSchool Health Services$$025770 000009107 6531_ $$aadolescents 000009107 6531_ $$aglbtq persons 000009107 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000009107 7001_ $$aSavage, Amika C.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000009107 8564_ $$9a7625b3d-eca0-493d-8104-88150f53142c$$s593614$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/9107/files/Savage.Amika.2021.pdf 000009107 905__ $$a/rest/prod/st/74/cr/16/st74cr162 000009107 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:9107$$pstudent-work 000009107 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
