N2  - According to Healthy People 2020 and 2030, adolescent suicide remains a national health crisis, and the suicide rate among youth aged 10 - 24 is increasing each year. Novel strategies to identify and intervene with at-risk-youth are needed. Standardized suicide prevention curriculum can create open discussions about mental health, peer support, and anti-bullying. Teaching youth about red flags of suicidal ideation and depression can provide resources for youth to use during times of crisis. By addressing adolescent suicide at the population level, seeking care for mental health support is normalized. Thus, school based programs have the potential to address the growing need for suicide prevention.
