The TST is subject to bias and errors in placement and reading, and repeated exposure to the antigen in the purified protein derivative may boost future responses to repeat TST. The TST must be read 48-72 hours after intradermal injection, problematic because of low subject compliance for follow-up. To reduce the prevalence of such testing errors, over the past eight years, healthcare institutions in low-incidence countries have employed an alternative to the TST for HCW, a blood test that uses an interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA). 000000934 650__ $$aDelivery of Health Care$$017452 000000934 650__ $$aInterferon-gamma Release Tests$$039576 000000934 650__ $$aTuberculin Test$$027468 000000934 650__ $$aLatent Tuberculosis$$038534 000000934 650__ $$aVeterans Health$$039070 000000934 650__ $$aTuberculosis$$027470 000000934 651__ $$aOregon--Portland$$041692 000000934 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000934 692__ $$aDepartment of Public Health and Preventive Medicine$$041444 000000934 7001_ $$aRay, Kimberly$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000934 7201_ $$aWinthrop, Kevin$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eAdvisor$$eMentor 000000934 8564_ $$93fca361d-e000-4767-8b18-40af274c5e53$$s1458241$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/934/files/937_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$295e5bff7605b0ce3ce515fa34561ee30$$31 000000934 905__ $$a/rest/prod/5x/21/tf/45/5x21tf45j 000000934 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:934$$pstudent-work 000000934 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
