AB  - Technological processes often result in dissemination of potentially toxic substances into the world ecosystem. The subsequent uptake and concentration of these toxic substances by living organisms is cause for concern. Two groups of chemicals, the chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides and organo-mercury compounds, are examples of environmental pollutants that can be concentrated in biological systems and which are potentially toxic to man.
