These patients had been treated with other than species specific insulin preparations and presumably, had made antibodies against the foreign hormone. It was found that these insulin antibodies had the ability to competitively bind insulin which had been labeled with 1311 as well as unlabeled insulin. From these observations, Berson and Yalow developed the first radioirnrnunoassay (RIA) in 1959 ( 8) and presented a clinically useful method in 1960 (65). 000009417 650__ $$aInsulin Antibodies$$020874 000009417 650__ $$aDiabetes Mellitus$$017671 000009417 7001_ $$aVelander, Robert K. 000009417 8564_ $$9e1d6062f-bbb6-4788-bb38-645f4e7158a2$$s15272741$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/9417/files/1972.velander.robert.pdf 000009417 905__ $$a/rest/prod/w0/89/2b/80/w0892b809 000009417 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:9417$$pstudent-work 000009417 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
