This study compared FHP and family-history-negative (FHN) adolescents using behavioral emotion tasks, fMRI, and resting-state connectivity prior to heavy alcohol use. While behavioral performance was similar, FHP youth showed reduced activation to positive faces and weaker fronto-striatal engagement during cognitive control. Resting-state analyses revealed altered amygdala connectivity with prefrontal regions, linked to inhibitory control errors. These findings suggest atypical emotion-cognition circuitry in FHP youth may represent a neural risk phenotype for AUD development. 000000943 540__ $$fCC BY 000000943 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000943 650__ $$aAlcoholism$$014412 000000943 650__ $$aNervous System$$022807 000000943 650__ $$aNeuroimaging$$039660 000000943 650__ $$aPedigree$$023690 000000943 650__ $$aAdolescent$$014285 000000943 650__ $$aEmotions$$018360 000000943 650__ $$aAmygdala$$014642 000000943 650__ $$aCognition$$016868 000000943 650__ $$aGenealogy and Heraldry$$019440 000000943 650__ $$aMagnetic Resonance Imaging$$021747 000000943 6531_ $$aadolescence 000000943 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000000943 692__ $$aDepartment of Behavioral Neuroscience$$041394 000000943 7001_ $$aCservenka, Anita$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000943 7201_ $$aNagel, Bonnie$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354$$7Personal$$eMentor 000000943 8564_ $$9ffc0e559-ce6c-4404-8665-1012ab00674c$$s2982497$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/943/files/946_etd.pdf$$ePublic$$2172f0069d4ae09e2069285842592387f$$31 000000943 905__ $$a/rest/prod/3b/59/18/57/3b591857h 000000943 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:943$$pstudent-work 000000943 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
