The project was designed using the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) model for quality improvement. Educational materials were created to guide discussions with pregnant patients at their 34-week prenatal visit on the efficacy of TENS units for late pregnancy and early labor pain. A workflow was also developed to assist midwives in ordering TENS units for insurance reimbursement. Data were collected on whether patients elected to proceed with TENS use and the project found that over 30% of patients desired to use TENS units for late pregnancy and early labor pain management. Future projects should focus on integrating this workflow sustainably into practice and adding flexibility for discussing TENS units at various points in pregnancy. 000009486 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000009486 650__ $$aPain Management$$039572 000009486 650__ $$aPregnancy$$024523 000009486 650__ $$aQuality Improvement$$039456 000009486 650__ $$aLabor Pain$$036150 000009486 6531_ $$aTENS unit 000009486 6531_ $$anon-pharmacological intervention 000009486 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000009486 7001_ $$aChin, Hannah$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000009486 8564_ $$9ecfead93-1245-4d19-b464-cb8301573e98$$s1571550$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/9486/files/Chin.Hannah.2022.pdf 000009486 905__ $$a/rest/prod/69/69/z1/42/6969z1427 000009486 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:9486$$pstudent-work 000009486 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
