000009496 520__ $$aThe aim of this QI project was three-fold: 1) to develop and adopt a standardized educational process for nurse practitioners (NP) to utilize in newly diagnosed children with cancer prior to discharge, 2) implement the process into standardized NP workflow and 3) to decrease overnight family calls. A new childhood cancer diagnosis is life-altering to children and their families. A comprehensive understanding of treatment by the patient and family is of critical importance as they will become the primary caretaker for their cancer treatment.
