As the population ages and the “baby boomers” continue to flood the 65 years and older demographic, addressing the mental health needs of this group will become increasingly important as the raw number of adults in this age group with mental illness is projected to surpass the number of all other adults with mental illness by 2030. This is true throughout the country and it may very well hit rural areas harder than urban areas because of multiple factors that lead to reduced availability and utilization of services as noted in this paper. Thus, an assessment for the perceived need and utility of a geriatric psychiatric clinic is proposed in this paper to best meet these needs with the Willamette Valley Community Health coordinated care organization, covering Polk and Marion counties in Oregon, as a prototypical backdrop. 000000963 540__ $$fCC BY 000000963 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000000963 650__ $$aNeeds Assessment$$032368 000000963 650__ $$aGeriatric Psychiatry$$019497 000000963 650__ $$aMental Health Services$$022048 000000963 650__ $$aRural Population$$025633 000000963 650__ $$aAged$$014351 000000963 6531_ $$arural mental health services 000000963 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000000963 7001_ $$aHagen, Bryan$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000000963 8564_ $$92b179015-82da-48af-b9f2-c4a0d8f26b2d$$s560854$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/963/files/966_etd.pdf 000000963 905__ $$a/rest/prod/dz/01/0q/05/dz010q056 000000963 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:963$$pstudent-work 000000963 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
