Smoke evacuation devices (SEDs) are available, but not uniformly utilized, at Doernbecher Children's Hospital (DCH). By assessing and describing the current state of SED use at DCH, a comprehensive understanding of its underutilization may allow for future local interventions that more effectively and consistently protect patients and staff from the hazards of SS. This quality improvement (QI) project evaluated OR personnel's adoption or rejection of SEDs through survey questions informed by Roger's Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory. Future work should focus on standardizing education regarding the hazards of SS to all DCH OR personnel and improving communication surrounding this topic among staff members. 000009640 542__ $$fIn copyright - joint owners 000009640 650__ $$aChild$$016462 000009640 650__ $$aSurveys and Questionnaires$$025037 000009640 650__ $$aQuality Improvement$$039456 000009640 650__ $$aOperating Rooms$$023217 000009640 650__ $$aSmoke$$026082 000009640 650__ $$aOperating Rooms$$023217 000009640 650__ $$aHospitals, Pediatric$$020351 000009640 691__ $$aSchool of Nursing$$041370 000009640 7001_ $$aZhang, Kawen$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000009640 7001_ $$aJodoin, Lindsay M.$$uOregon Health and Science University$$041354 000009640 8564_ $$9d727edd4-4a38-477d-9cf9-179f265e09a1$$s692236$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/9640/files/Jodoin.Lindsay.2022.pdf$$ePublic$$2e0187c520858297b35009853b4d5e71b$$31 000009640 905__ $$a/rest/prod/7m/01/bm/53/7m01bm533 000009640 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:9640$$pstudent-work 000009640 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
