      abstract = {Interest among clinicians and researchers in social  determinants of health has increased in recent years,  driven by a recognition of its role as a major contributor  to health outcomes and by interest in improving health  equity. However, little is known about the quality of  social determinants of health data sourced from real-world  data sources such as the electronic health record. The  overall objective of this work is to improve the quality of  the social determinants of health data used in health  equity research. Better data quality will increase the  reliability and validity of the resulting research product  - a necessary step towards understanding how to improve the  health of both individuals and the population.},
