Maternal obesity is associated with increased risk of early onset neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and mood disorders in children. Although these trends may be driven in part by the improved accuracy regarding our characterization of behavioral phenotypes associated with a neurodevelopmental disorders, there is still much to be learned about their developmental origins. Increasing evidence from epidemiological and preclinical animal models suggest that maternal overnutrition of Western-style diet alters fetal neurodevelopment, and impairs socio-emotional function in offspring. This dissertation explores this hypothesis further and investigates the impact of perinatal maternal WSD (mWSD) exposure within the translatable preclinical macaque (Macaca fuscata) model. 000009839 542__ $$fIn copyright - single owner 000009839 650__ $$aAttention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity$$015204 000009839 650__ $$aAutism Spectrum Disorder$$011199 000009839 650__ $$aPregnancy$$024523 000009839 650__ $$aBrain$$015788 000009839 650__ $$aSocial Behavior$$026095 000009839 6531_ $$aexperimental animal models 000009839 691__ $$aSchool of Medicine$$041369 000009839 692__ $$aDepartment of Behavioral Neuroscience$$041394 000009839 7001_ $$aMitchell, Thomas "AJ" 000009839 8564_ $$935e580eb-8ae2-46a6-8402-6dbb3c078d73$$s4763059$$uhttps://digitalcollections.ohsu.edu/record/9839/files/Mitchell.AJ.2022.pdf 000009839 905__ $$a/rest/prod/15/44/bp/78/1544bp783 000009839 909CO $$ooai:digitalcollections.ohsu.edu:9839$$pstudent-work 000009839 980__ $$aTheses and Dissertations
