Clarice Ashworth Francone collection
Clarice Ashworth Francone studied at the Art Insitutute of Chicago and later studied medical illustration under Max Broedel at Johns Hopkins University. Ashworth moved to Oregon in 1929 and worked as a freelance illustrator. In 1936, she began working part-time at the University of Oregon Medical School, eventually becoming the Head of the Medical Illustration Department. She is best known for her work on the anatomy and physiology textbook, Structure and Function of Man, which she co-authored with Dr. Stanley Jacob, professor of surgery at the University of Oregon Medical School.
