Harry J. Sears lantern slide collection

Harry J. Sears, M.D., served as Director of the Berkley, California City Health Laboratory before coming to Portland in 1919 when he began working at the University of Oregon Medical School (UOMS). At the time, Sears was the only bacteriologist in the state of Oregon. He organized the first Department of Bacteriology at UOMS, where he taught both bacteriology and chemistry and served as the head of the department for 38 years.

This collection consists of twenty glass lantern slides of UOMS faculty members and their families. The slides were used for a presentation in 1950.
